Assignment # 2 Make a list of your favorite words—at least 10 of them—and explain why you like these words. Feel free to pick any words you want, and any explanation will do.
Nuance A gradation of color; a slight degree of difference. It sounds so smooth and elegant.
No An expression of refusal or denial. In any language that I have ever heard, the word “no” is extremely similar if not the same.
Ethereal Heavenly, airy, intangible. I absolutely believe that heavenly beings exist and we can see them if we would simply open our eyes.
Water A clear, colorless, tasteless, odorless liquid essential for plant and animal life. When a person says the word water, their accent is the thickest, at least in many cases.
Zainy It’s not a real word but it is used to mean quirky and crazy. I like using it because it is not a word found in the dictionary.
Unique The only one of its kind, without an equal. I am often called unique… I love it.
Taboo A ban or an inhibition resulting from social custom or emotional aversion. I would love to live in a society in which nothing is taboo that would suggest true tolerance.
Fork A utensil with two or more prongs, used for eating or serving food. If “fork” is repeated too many times it sounds hysterical.
Retard A slowing down or hindering of progress; a delay. When the word was first used it was meant to be a word for the mentally handicapped without any negative connotation but in the present day, it is one of the most degrading of descriptions.
Cellerdoor The door that leads to the cellar. I know its probably two words but … too bad! Dismiss the meaning, say the word aloud a few times and listen, truly listen: it is beautiful!
Those, I have concluded after much thought, are my favorite words!
